Tigar Bell: It started with Merle Haggard...

When I was eight years old I had braces and was showing a cow in 4-H at the county fair.

When Tigar Bell was eight years old he was playing fiddle for Merle Haggard!

It's pretty amazing to me that two people who had such different beginnings would meet in the studio many years later...

I'm so excited that Tigar Bell played fiddle for three songs on my new album, Stories Behind Songs. He's got the best tone I've ever heard and is a humble guy too. In addition to Merle, he has worked with some amazing artists such as Ricky Van Shelton, Travis Tritt, Collin Raye and Pam Tillis.

Meet Tigar and hear him play here:

What a hoot! I was one of Tigar's elementary school teachers in Hamilton City, California, circa 1975-76. This prodigy was having commercial success way back then. I have no idea why he popped into my head after all these years but there I was, having breakfast, and I thought I'd Google him. Thanks for the post. Any idea how I could send him a message of appreciation? Thanks.

Saw Tigar Bell tonight in dinner/music hall show in Nashville. He did a couple of individual numbers on the fiddle. He was absolutely brilliant. So glad I went to the show with Cosmos group.

I met Tigar and his band in the mid eighties when the preformed at the local Elks Lodge in my hometown of Valley City, ND. He encouraged my half asset amateur fiddling which I'm still working on. Good times!
